A Markov Decision Process with Awareness and Present Bias in Decision-Making

چکیده
We propose a Markov Decision Process Model that blends ideas from Psychological research and Economics to study decision-making in individuals with self-control problems. have borrowed dual-process of self-awareness research, we introduce present bias inter-temporal preferences, phenomenon widely explored Economics. allow for both an exogenous endogenous, state-dependent, explore, by means numerical simulations, the consequences on well-being emerging solution model. show that, over time, may mitigate suboptimal choice behaviour.

Convergence in a sequential two stages decision making process
We analyze a sequential decision making process, in which at each stepthe decision is made in two stages. In the rst stage a partially optimalaction is chosen, which allows the decision maker to learn how to improveit under the new environment. We show how inertia (cost of changing)may lead the process to converge to a routine where no further changesare made. We illustrate our scheme with some...
متن کاملProperties of fuzzy relations and aggregation process in decision making
In this contribution connections between input fuzzy relations R1, . . . ,Rn on a set X and the output fuzzy relationRF = F(R1, . . . ,Rn) are studied. F is a function of the form F : [0, 1]n → [0, 1] and RF is called an aggregated fuzzyrelation. In the literature the problem of preservation, by a function F, diverse types of properties of fuzzy relationsR1, . . . ,Rn is examined. Here, it is c...
متن کاملA Markov Decision Process Model for Strategic Decision Making in Sailboat Racing
We consider the problem of strategic decision-making for inshore sailboat racing. This sequential decision-making problem is complicated by the yacht’s dynamics which prevent it from sailing directly into the wind but allow it to sail close to the wind following a zigzag trajectory towards an upwind race marker. A skipper is faced with the problem of sailing the most direct route to this marker...
متن کاملA normality bias in legal decision making.
It is important to understand how legal fact finders determine causation and assign blame. However, this process is poorly understood. Among the psychological factors that affect decision makers are an omission bias (a tendency to blame actions more than inactions [omissions] for bad results), and a normality bias (a tendency to react more strongly to bad outcomes that spring from abnormal rath...
متن کاملA generalized Markov decision process
— In this paper we present a generalized Markov décision process that subsumes the traditional discounted, infinité horizon, finite state and action Markov décision process, VeinotCs discountéd décision processes, and Koehler's generalization of these two problem classes. Résumé. — Nous présentons dans cet article un processus de Markov généralisé qui englobe le processus de décision markovien ...
